PELAKSANAAN EKSTRAKURIKULER SENI TARI DI SMP NEGERI 2 PADANG

This study aims to describe the implementation of dance extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 2 Padang, including planning, execution, and the challenges faced in these activities. This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive method. The research instrument is the researcher themselves, assisted by supporting tools such as writing instruments and a camera. Data collection techniques were carried out through literature review, observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques were conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of dance extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 2 Padang has been carried out quite well and in a structured manner. The activity is carried out regularly according to the established schedule, with the learning material consisting of the Creative Pasambahan Dance. The methods used in learning are lecture and demonstration methods. The activity planning has been prepared by the coach, including the schedule, material, and implementation strategy. However, in practice, there are still some obstacles, such as limited facilities and infrastructure, the absence of a dedicated practice room, and the suboptimal support of media such as audio. In addition, the attendance and motivation of some students still need to be improved. Nevertheless, this extracurricular activity provides a platform for students to develop their interests, talents, and skills in the field of dance arts.
