Abstract

This study aims to find out the Character Education Values in the Kaba of Sutan Nasarudin at the Siti Nursiah Studio in Nagari Koto Tuo, Harau District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. This is a qualitative descriptive study. The research data consists of dialogues and narratives containing character education values in the kaba of Sutan Nasarudin. The data sources are the manuscript of Kaba Sutan Nasarudin and interviews with the administrators of the Siti Nursiah Studio. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis techniques included data collection, data identification, data reduction, and drawing conclusions. Research shows that in Kaba Sutan Nasarudin there are five character education values, namely: (1) faith and piety reflected through praying, surrendering to Allah Swt., and practising religious teachings; (2) honesty shown through openness and telling the truth; (3) intelligence seen in the character's ability to make decisions and understand situations faced; (4) resilience evident through the spirit of venturing out, courage in facing challenges, and persistence in achieving goals; and (5) care reflected through attention and a sense of responsibility towards family and others. These values show that Kaba Sutan Nasarudin not only serves as entertainment but also as a means of character education and preservation of Minangkabau cultural values.
