TARI KUDA LUMPING: TINJAUAN DEFINISI DAN KOREOGRAFI

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the position of kuda lumping art at Sanggar Tunas Baru Buto Edan, determining whether kuda lumping is considered a dance art form, a performance attraction, or a combination of both. In addition, the limited scientific studies that systematically examine the choreography structure of Kuda Lumping is an important reason for conducting this research. This study aims to describe the definition of kuda lumping at Sanggar Tunas Baru Buto Edan. The research method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with the studio head, trainers, and performers, as well as documentation. Research shows that the Tunas Baru Buto Edan troupe's kuda lumping performance includes elements of dance, which can be seen from the structured movements at the start of the show and the attraction elements, evident in the trance scenes that form the highlight of the performance, making it appealing to the audience.
