MANAJEMEN SANGGAR TARI ALANG BABEGA DI KOTA PADANG

This study aims to describe the management of Alang Babega Dance Studio in Padang City, which includes the functions of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling in the studio activities. This research used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation with the leader of Alang Babega Dance Studio as the main informant. The results showed that Alang Babega Dance Studio has implemented management functions quite well. The planning function was carried out through arranging practice schedules, preparing performances, competitions, and studio activity programs. The organizing function was reflected in the division of tasks among leaders, trainers, and administrators, as well as grouping students based on age and ability. The actuating function was implemented through motivation, guidance, and coaching activities for students during practice and performances. The controlling function was conducted through evaluations of practice activities, member discipline, and dance performance quality. In addition, the studio utilized social media as a promotional medium and strategy to maintain its existence. Although facing several obstacles, Alang Babega Dance Studio has been able to maintain its existence as one of the active dance studios in preserving Minangkabau culture in Padang City. This study shows that good management plays an important role in sustaining traditional art organizations.
